Major breakthrough in hydrogen technology
Researchers at CEA's Laboratoire de chimie et biologie des matériaux (LCBM) have brought nanoscience and bio-inspired chemistry together to develop, for the first time ever, a platinum-free catalytic material for the production of hydrogen and its use in fuel cells. Platinum is costly and hard to procure so this breakthrough is a welcome new step towards the hydrogen economy.
